My older sister introduced us all to "the word" concept a few years ago. You choose a word for the new year and try to live by that word. Kinda a different twist on your traditional new years resolutions.
So my word this year is STEP UP.
It came to me the other day sitting in church. I realized there is so much I want to do, to become, to be and alot of it just depends on me choosing to just STEP UP and do it or start it. So STEP UP will guide me this year in my goals and my thoughts and my feelings.
I want to become more intentional about my responsibilites as a wife, mother, and Daughter of God. It's so easy for me to get caught up in the hum-dumness of life and the must do's that I forget the eternal consequences of my choices and decisions. Our time here on earth is so short that I can't keep wasting my time. Before I know it Abby will be off to college and Rob and I will be contemplating a life without kids underfoot.
I'm hoping that this new look into my life will allow me to slow down a bit and enjoy the little things more and in turn help me with the things I struggle with like patience and screaming at my kids, etc.
I'm so thankful for my membership in the church and the opportunities our callings within the ward have given us. Being the RS President has really blessed me in so many ways and I feel more grateful all the time for the opportunity to serve and really get involved with my ward and it's members. Don't get me wrong it can be a stressful crazy out of control thing alot of times but overall the blessing way out weigh the headaches.
Life is good and only looking better for 2010 and our little family of girls!
