It started outside with weeding the flower bed in the front. The Creeping Jenny had crept over everything and our bed was a mass of light green vines. We happily weeded while the girls rode bikes and Sophie started darting traffic.
We then jumped in the car and headed to our local wally world to buy the girls a pool. We went up and down the isles perusing all their summer goodies, lawn chairs, grills and flowers. Abby then picked out a zebra pool and we were off to pump up the summer magic. (Abby had been wearing her swimsuit since the night before) We came home, grabbed the kids something to eat and we were off to Abby's first T-ball game.
For any parents out there that haven't yet started their kids in their local city's rec teams let me recommend T-ball. Skip soccer all together watching 5 year olds play ball is much more enjoyable then watching them chase a soccer ball in a large mass. Abby started out playing first base it was hilarious, kids running this way and that, like I said much more enjoyable for the sideline fans. Abby was sure her team won (they don't keep score) and by the end of the game every parent of a purple dragon knew Abby's name (she's the only girl)

After T-ball we treated ourselves to a lunch of Cafe Rio. We got the usual, Rob downed a large chicken enchilada and the girls and I shared a pork salad.
Home brought more outside fun. The girls played in their pool for hours. Sophie stood shaking most of the time with her purple lips and chin quivering as she smiled and said "wee", at one point she pulled her little bike over to the pool and sat next to it splashing the water with her little cold hands.
We did eventually go inside and leave our happy outdoor Saturday when I realized part of what made that Saturday so great was the fact that Robby was at home (usually he works on Saturdays) I didn't do a lick of housework and we spent the entire day as a family with few fits or whines. Here's to hopefully many more picturesque summer Saturdays.

That sounds like an ideal Saturday. I love no house work saturdays with the husband home. Our house usually is a wreck come monday, but it's worth it. I love that she is playing T-ball with the boys. Go Abby! I love the new pool, how fun.
That does sound like a perfect day. I love those easy, breezy, family days.
Made me smile the whole time i was reading it.
PS Can I have some creeping jenny?
Matt
Sounds quite idealic! So glad you documented it. They probably don't come around real often. But the memories will serve you well.
Go Abby, go!
I love those days when you can really enjoy your family. I'm glad you guys finally got a little bit of a breather. That is why we work so hard, for days like that.
What a great day! I love it when the agenda calls for lots of outdoor family fun and no house work!

Ah....I love those perfect days...especially when you managed to take pictures of it and document it. Then it's especially perfect and memorable.
