An Amazing Man and Witness

This morning I told Abby that President Hinckley our Prophet had died last night, she said "but why mom" to which I replied "well he was old" she came right back with "well Jesus will help him be alive again like us".
This year I committed to myself and my family that I'd be more diligent at completing Family Home Evenings. I have always know of the good that can come of doing FHE's but for one busy excuse or another I've never been great at it. This morning listening to my 4 year old relate her simple understanding of the resurrection was a great reminder of why we've been counseled to do FHE and the sweet spirit that will be in our homes if we do. The Gospel is true and as parents we get the awesome responsibility to teach it to our children, what a blessing! President Hinckley was an amazing man and must be so happy to be home with his wife and fellow prophets, how amazing it is to ponder his homecoming and be thankful for the eternal truths that we know as members of the church.
President Gordon B. Hinckley said: The ideal way to transform your home into a house of learning is to hold family home evening faithfully. The Church has reserved Monday evening for that purpose. In 1915, the First Presidency instructed local leaders and parents to inaugurate a home evening, a time when parents should teach their families the principles of the gospel. The Presidency wrote: "If the Saints obey this counsel, we promise that great blessings will result. Love at home and obedience to parents will increase. Faith will be developed in the hearts of the youth of Israel, and they will gain power to combat the evil influence and temptations which beset them."Pres. Joseph F. Smith
